"Watching their drummer perform 'Cry For Me' live is quite an experience. Every move is practiced, like he's dancing and his drum set is his woman. He leads her through it flawlessly like a ballet." Zach Garland

![]() The disc starts off with "Shine", a hard rockin', getting-you-ready-for-the-rest-of-the-CD tune. "What do you think?" Lead singer Antonio Brazil, who joined the band in March 2001, provides those smooth vocals that grab your ears immediately. He has a really good vocal range, without taking it out of control. Oh, and ladies.... I've seen the pictures... he plays live gigs shirtless. The next track really jumped out at me. "Bleeding Me" starts off with some great low-end harmonics, going right into those clear vocals from Antonio. Only two verses with a repeated chorus, but that first line caught me: "I feel so far removed from the task of day to day." Damn right I do. There's one HELL of a guitar solo during the bridge from Darin Robinson, short but poignant... I'd like to see this track live, and hear him really take that solo on an emotional journey. The lyrics to track 4 tug at your heart. "After All" just plain hurts to hear. Excellent basswork on this one from Joseph Lonon, by the way. Another great guitar solo from Darin puts the topper on this track for me. Throw in some pounding drums courtesy of Michael Galante, and this is one of my favorite tracks on Figure 1-a. Joseph gets to show off some of his keyboard skills on "V-Theory", a song about Brazil, of all things. "Goodnight" is another great track. I love the opening bass line, and when Darin kicks in that guitar... WOAH! If you're looking to get blown away... head for that hidden track. There's some damn good writing on this CD... damn good musicianship... damn good vocals... it's just DAMN GOOD. You can pick up a copy at Waterloo, or wait for them to play an Austin show. I have it on good authority that one's coming soon. Allison

3 Shot West, led the evening into a groovy, funky ride through their musical powers. Both the guitarist and bassist sang. The drummer, Michael Galante is truly the most talented of the band. Michael, like Stuart Copeland of the Police, leads the band through his natural, imaginative way of keeping the beat to a song. |

3 Shot West has three wonderful musicians. This small band contains the power most 5 piece bands strive for. Bassist Brian Aldsworth accompanied drummer Michael very well. Lead vocalist Graham Duncan immediately impressed the audience with his multi-range vocals. On the high side, Graham turns his lyrics into a whimsical fantasy; making the audience forget where they are. His voice makes yo almost forget about the band, kind of like the Foo Fighters. Those are the best kind. Your mind wanders as the notes of the song pull out forgotten, happy memories of past experiences. |
The clean fifties, inspired guitars backed with trippy spacey and sometimes just full rock background pieces fit well together, creating an original feel. At times, however, you feel as if the band should let it all out, go over the edge; but you just never get there. Maybe sometimes the quality of their repetitiveness hold them back from their necessary explosions of passion. " Hyacinth Belcher dallasmusic.com " |
